I have been slacking on the blogging lately, but it has been a bit crazy. We had quite a few visitors in June, and we took off for UT a few days after they left, so I haven't got around to blogging until now. This is a picture of the Breakers. It is the Vanderbilt mansion that was their "summer cottage" in Newport RI. The Newport Mansions are about a hour from our house and are a fun place to take visitors. We had Kathy, Kam and their family with us for a few days and I neglected to bring the camera, but we had a great time. Then we had our friend Jeff from Seattle come, along with Heather, Blaine, and Will. So we took Jeff down to see the mansions and Cape Cod.
You can't take pictures inside, but believe me these homes are off of the charts incredible.
The Breakers is right on the ocean and the view is spectacular.
Jeff and I on the terrace, notice the beautiful tile work on the walls behind us.
The beautiful grounds.
Boats in the Hyannis Harbor on Cape Cod
Sun going down at the JFK memorial in Hyannis. Hyannis is where the Kennedy's have their family compound.
A bunny on the grounds.
Jeff at the Paul Revere capture site. Paul Revere did not get to finish his ride, most of the ride was done by two other people.
Me on the Lexington to Concord trail where the Paul Revere ride took place and the road traveled by both the British Redcoats and the Minutemen on the day the Revolutionary War began.
The Hartwell tavern where one of the battles took place.
Stone wall by the tavern where the minuteman shot from.
There are still a few of them living around here!
Next to a tree that was there that day and saw all the action.
The bridge where the first shots were fired.
Rock on the beautiful peaceful river that runs through the area.
My Ariel moment.
The Minuteman statue.
Downtown Boston from Wollaston beach in Quincy. We were having ice cream and watching the sun go down.
Heather, Blaine and Will sillouetted against the sunset.
Jeff in the sunset.
Will on the beach.
Not sure what he thinks of it, or maybe we had just run out of ice cream!
Beautiful New England sunset. We did so many other things like the Freedom Trail and Plimoth Plantation, but you will have to look at other blogs and facebook pages to see them since I did not lug around the good camera. I will post pictures of the Utah reunions soon.
